I am a comfort dog

I’m with the Irish Aunt this weekend when Domino comes in very much worse for wear – blood and fluff everywhere!  Been in a fight, obviously.  He’s a big cat so I’ve no idea how the other pugilist fared.

The cousins cleaned him up and he only wanted one thing – to cuddle up to me.  Of course I took on the role of nurse; we animals must comfort when we can.

Of course I’ll have his salami!

Could not believe my eyes when a little dog refused a salami treat in our breakfast café today.  I’d already had mine (and a bite of mum’s cinnamon bun) and looked on in wonder as he turned his face away from the tasty offering.

Would she, would she…yes, she would give it to me!

This was a big difference to yesterday when Murphy came out with us and we tried the same café.  We’re negotiating the door – not any easy feat with two dogs – when the little monkey swipes a blanket off a baby’s pushchair so my mum ushers us out and there were no treats.  Totes embarrassment!

Good dogs like me aim to please.  Yes, I will take the spare salami off your hands.
