CHIP 1/4/2010 – 15/9/2022

This morning, unfortunately, Chip joined Truffle OTRB. He collapsed on Monday, we rushed him to the vet where he was diagnosed with vestibular syndrome. Three days of hospitalisation and medication failed to get him back on his feet so cousin Leah took the painful decision to let him go run free with his ‘bruvver from a diffrnt muvver’. Just three weeks between their passing. They had such fun together in their old age. Chip had the best time of his life in these last two years and they will live in our hearts forever.

Surviving the heatwave

We’re lucky to live in a house which has tiles through most of downstairs and where the NW-facing front is cooler than the back so we can escape the current UK heatwave. Because I have lots of white fur, I can tolerate the sun better than Chip and sometimes lie half and half in sun and shade. Mum found the cool mat and put it down in the yard. After ignoring it for days, Chip finally lay on it.

Dogs-R-us

Irish Aunt is dogsitting two scamps Jet and Jessie for a couple of weeks so there have been four of us walking out, playing and slumbering around. The terrible twosome stay with her while Chip and me rotate between the two homes. There’s been a bit of trouble because Jet, the black one, likes to chase cats so Domino has taken a few days to adjust. Now he’s in tease mode!

Sossidges…and ice cream!

What a blissful morning down the beach – swimming, sossidges and ICE CREAM! Not altogether of course.

Me and Chip had fun in the water but mum says we are a pain because Chip won’t go in far and I drop the ball so she gets her feet wet. Today’s sandals got soaked and when we arrived home she found the sole was split so they went in the bin. They were old and she has lots more.

There’s a lovely dog friendly café right next to the beach where we had a long drink then shared mum’s enormous sausage sandwich. Then another treat when we got back to the car park – she said we could have ice cream, just between us dogs. WOW, YUM!

Run, bun…doggos!

I don’t mind dressing up but Chip is much more enthusiastic than me when it comes to headgear. It’s Easter weekend so out come the rabbit ears. Run, bun, bun says my mum. But we’re doggos, not rabbits! Can we have a creme egg if we pose? Nope, dogs can’t have chocolate she says. Ok, you can’t have a doggo smile then!

There’s no business like snow business…

Chip’s foot is so much better that he was allowed out for a walk today for the first time in a week. We went to the quarry, one of our favourite places, but Irish Aunt said he had to take it easy and not damage his newly healed paw. Still lots of snow with us and it’s bitterly cold so we both had our warm winter coats on to keep out the chill.

Birthday boy – I am 12!

Celebrating my 12th birthday with a chicken breakfast and a day with Chip, my bruvver wiv anovver muvver. Still in the cone (apart from eating and exercise) but the wound is much imrpoved.

Mum says I am a very special boy and she loves me to bits.

Where am I travelling to?

Mum says I’ve been naughty picking at my stitches so has wrapped my neck in a TRAVEL PILLOW! A travel pillow – where am I travelling to? The vet, she says, if the wound starts to gape…and that may mean the dreaded cone of shame.

Had the second surgery for my perineal hernia two days ago: no after effects from the anaesthetic, eating and pooing well. Trouble is I’m on light exercise for a week when I’m raring to go to the park. Quarry is out of bounds because the lake has flooded with all the rain.

Chip was there when I came home from the operation and he straightaway gave me a full examination then settled down to guard me. He wasn’t letting anyone near me: Nurse Chip on duty!

UPDATE 3pm Mum rang vet who said if still worried in morning ring back but she has bought steri strips and patched me up.
